Once upon a time I went to Festival of Colors, and it was awesome! I came home looking a little like this:
I went down with a car load of my friends (Jade, Janalie, and two of their friends), and we met up with another car load of friends (Shannon, Chrissy, Dallin, and Ali). We parked a couple miles away and had to walk to the temple. On the way there we passed all the people who were leaving the last color throwing. And was we walked past them, they all threw their chalk at me, some even dumped it in my hair. I was already filthy dirty before I even got there. The temple was so cool. I really couldn't believe that there was something like that in Happy Valley. It was huge, and Hindu-looking. And there were seriously a freaking ton of people there. I could not even believe how huge of a party it was.
We got there, and got our chalk first thing. I was going to buy 5 bags, but instead each of us only bought 1 bag, and I was glad. I don't think I would've used much more than the 1 bag. We ran around for 2 hours throwing chalk at each other and taking picture. It was so funny that in that situation, it was acceptable for a complete stranger to walk up and throw a handful of chalk in your face.
The actual color throwing was pretty awesome too. We all gathered in this big outside auditorium thing like sardines. They told the story of why they do the Festival of Colors, and a story about a witch who was burned to death. They burned a dummy of a witch on the stage, and then we all threw our colors up in the air. I closed my eyes and threw mine. When I opened my eyes back up, all of the colors had mixed together and there was just this super thick cloud of brown smoke, and no one could breathe. But it was so totally awesome.
I loved the whole thing. My friends weren't sure if they'd go back again. But I totally would. I thought it was awesome and would definitely like to go back again next year. It was quite the experience. That's for dang sure.
