Aggie fans' complete lack of sportsmanship makes me smile, and laugh, and smile some more.
Seriously, I go to an Aggie basketball game and it is so obvious why I love this school so much. This weekend was the battle of all battles at Utah State. USU vs. BYU basketball game at the USU spectrum. People started camping out Monday and Tuesday. There were 100+ tents set up outside of the spectrum of people waiting to make sure they got a spot in line so they could go to the game. It was insane. It's difficult to understand unless you go to school here and know how avid our fans really are. Luckily since I worked at the game, I didn't have to wait in line for hours or days, I just showed up and walked in. You wouldn't believe the energy that was in the spectrum though, it was electrifying. My boss offered ear plugs to us b/c he said the volume was going to be louder than is technically safe for your ears. It was so great. Our fans were so loud. And I love all of our cheers that we use to demoralize the other team. One of the BYU guys fouled out, so we walked him off the court with "right, left, right, left". And of course we couldn't let them leave the floor without reminding them who was the winning team, and who was the losing team. I loved when we did the Scotsman, that it wasn't just the students, the entire spectrum did it with us, it was so totally awesome to see!!! There were some good signs that I saw too. The two that I saw and thought were kinda funny were "Jesus wants me for an Aggie" and "USU article of faith: We believe that we will win" (That's the spirit club's motto fyi) I thought they were pretty clever. And definitely better than some of the other signs making fun of Brandon Davies. Yeah...use your imagination. Luckily for us, we won the game. I would have felt so bad if we had lost after so many people camped out all week waiting for it. Oh you've got to love Aggie basketball.
Yesterday's football game was not so great however. I had to be there 2 hours before the game started and for those 2 hours it was blizzarding. It was so bloody cold. And my gloves got soaked so then I just had to take them off. We all took turns going from the gates to the box office to warm up, then back out to the gate. That part was miserable. But luckily once the game started, it warmed up a little bit, and the sun came out to play. And my parents brought Cortney and her friends to the game, so I got to see them. And they brought me a letter from Harry Heiner. I love Harry, he makes me laugh. He said he would come to USU if I found someone to set him up with. And he included a letter from his companion who only speaks Portuguese, but is desperate for an American girlfriend. I work w/ a Brazilian kid, so I had him translate it for me. The whole thing just made me laugh. And a little while into the game, Jake texted me asking if I wanted him to bring me some hot chocolate. Bless his soul. I wanted to ask someone to bring me some, but I thought it would be rude b/c they would feel obligated to. So I'm so glad that I have a friend who is thinking ahead and looking out for me.
After the game, I had to finish my laundry, and I was so tired from going out every night this week, that I just wanted to stay home and watch a movie. So that's what I did. I watched the A-team. And of course I fell asleep during part of it. I'm slowly losing my ability to stay awake all night watching movies. I'm getting old. That's about all I have to report for the weekend. But I want you to take notice, that for Jashley's sake I separated this post into paragraphs.
