Being on cloud nine = smiling.
Today was the best day ever!!! Nothing could have brought me down. It was one of those days when all is good in the world, and you couldn’t ask for more. So it all started mid-September…in my “Managing People and Organizations” class we were assigned groups and told to organize some sort of event or project to apply our management skills. Most groups decided to raise $1,000 for my professor’s organization to get out of the final. But my group decided to put together a carnival as a fund-raiser for a local teenage boy with a brain tumor. It was a massive project and we’ve been working on it all semester. Today was our big final presentation on it, and we owned it!!!!!! Oh my gosh, it was amazing!!!! All the other groups just did a powerpoint and gave a detailed description of what they did, and honestly it was kinda boring. But our group did a short powerpoint as an overview of our project, then we showed a video that we made. We put together a picture slideshow with good background music, and an audio interview with the boy’s mom. It was enough to break your heart. It was so good, and the class loved it. When we showed how much money we raised, they all applauded. I couldn’t believe it. I wasn’t even expecting that reaction from them, (although we did raise 4x what most of them raised). But still it was amazing. But in the course of the project, we ran into some issues with the tax ID number that we used, and ended up having to give $800 of our money to our professor’s organization for legal purposes. But at the end of class, my professor got up and said that he was going to donate that $800 back to us. I about died!!! I couldn’t believe it. I left seriously on cloud nine, nothing could have possibly brought me down at that point. I think that it was the best day of my life.
Also to make the day even better, last night I went to the forgotten carols with a friend. And I love the forgotten carols. Yes, the play is cheesy beyond reason, but I still love the music. Life just couldn’t get any better this week. Really, I’m on top of the world…let’s just hope I can say the same thing after my marketing quiz tomorrow morning.
ps- last night we also took "family pictures" for Jade to send with her Christmas cards. Here's what they looked like.
